Installation note: With our kit, the 5-speed transmission mounts to custom fabricated mounting tabs that can be either bolted or welded to the tunnel, similar to the
factory mounting tabs. We believe this "stock-type" mounting method to be superior to others that rely on a cantilevered mounting bracket bolted to the
stock tabs, because the weight of the transmission is supported vertically by the tabs and fasterners, rather than applying torque to the stock tabs,
potentially weekening them over time. We have seen evidence of vibrating or bouncing transmissions and weekened stock tabs on old conversions
when cantilevered brackets were used. While the cantilever bracket will save time and effort during the conversion process, it may not be the best design over time.

Add $325 to kit cost for fully rebuilt driveshaft (new u-joints and balanced; better than new!). Constructed just like the stock shaft that you are
replacing. This is a manintenance-free driveshaft. We see no reason to install grease fittings and replaceable u-joints if the factory unit you are replacing can last 30 years (or more) built the same way.
Core charge for driveshaft is $130 and the core charge for the horizontal transmission cross-bracket is $20. Return these items in good useable
condition within 6 months, and the core charge will be refunded.
