This reproduction panel fits above and behind the stock bench seat, between the seat and the rear window. After 40+ years, many OEM versions are tired, warped, or ruined beyond repair. This panel is professionally upholstered in German OEM vinyl colors that closely match the original 2002 interior.

The panel board is made of 3/16" plywood and has been remanufactured by first digitizing several used, but straight panels, then using a computer-controlled (CNC) router machine to cut the new panel. The panel is about 2 times the original panel thickness to provide some rigidity and a thick enough substrate for upholstery staples to secure to the wood. The advantage of plywood over fiberboard is that if the plywood gets wet, it will swell, then contract back to its original thickness when it dries. The original fiberboard will not shrink back to its original thickness when it dries.
